Prior to arriving students are encouraged to work with an SFYI advisor to construct a program to include and achieve any of several personal goals, including:
- A high school diploma
- French language proficiency
- An informed global perspective
- Confidence
- Academic skill building and remediation in challenge areas
- An improved transcript for college applications
- College-level coursework (ask about availability)
- Master personal interests through internships, e.g., art, language, cooking
- The skills and confidence for independent travel
- A mature sense of self: values, passions, personal plan, sense of identity
- Lifelong friendships - with Americans, Europeans, South Africans

SFYI International School offers students a robust program of accredited academics,
cultural immersion, language courses and extensive travel throughout Western
Europe and southern Africa (respective of session). Our goal is to give students an
authentic experience within French culture and European society. From living deep
within the southern French countryside, to practicing language skills at a centre
ville café, students will find themselves more akin to residents than visitors. And
for the South Africa sessions: a life-changing, unblinking, humbling immersion
within the continent’s most diverse society. The comfortable and welcoming nature
of the program allows students to engage in new adventures in the company of
friends, building confidence and independence in manageable, well-supported steps.
Because of the limited size, every SFYI student co-creates their own personalized
program, customized to meet their own academic needs and personal goals in each
program area.
